how to make brown sugar turkey meatballs

Step 1:Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and grease so the meatballs don’t stick.

I like to grease mine with olive oil cooking spray.

Step 2: In a small bowl, combine the ground turkey, eggs, Italian bread crumbs, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, garlic salt, minced garlic, pepper, salt, and oregano.

You could do this with an electric hand mixer, wooden spoon, or your hands. I found it easiest to combine it all with my hands. This allowed me to really mix everything together

Step 4: Bake for 8 minutes, then flip and move the meatballs around and continue baking for another 10 minutes.

Step 6: Place the cooked turkey meatballs in the pan and mix so all of them are completely coated.

This will also allow the outside of the meatballs to get a little hard, and crispy on the outside.

Step 7: Once all the meatballs are covered in the sauce, take off the heat and serve warm.
Serve with rice or vegetables.

could i make these meatballs with ground beef?

You most definitely could make this recipe, using ground beef. Ground beef and ground turkey are extremely similar, however, ground beef tends to cook a bit faster, so be sure to watch them, that they don’t get burned.

  1. Jo says:

Delicious! I was a little concerned using the full amount of red pepper flakes, but it was a nice balance of heat and sweet. I only made a half recipe of the meatballs, but the full amount of the glaze and it was perfect with white rice.

  2. Sarah says:

Is this freezable with the glaze? Or is better to freeze the meatballs and make the glaze fresh?

  3. Cyd says:

You could freeze them either way. Just be sure you freeze in an airtight freezer container. Making the glaze fresh would be your best option. But we have put them in the freezer when we have had some leftovers and they reheated just fine.
